RULES

TO WIN A SET

A set (except the deciding, 3rd set) is won by the team which first scores 15 points with a minimum lead of 2 points. In the case of a 14-14 tie, play is continued until a two-point lead is achieved (16-14; 17-15; …).

The match is won by the team that wins two sets.

In the case of a 1-1 tie, the deciding set (the 3rd) is played to 15 points with a minimum lead of 2 points.

OTHER RULES are exactly the same as the official rules of Volleyball. For instance:

Only 3 touches per play are allowed (receiving, setting and passing), with a possibility to pass at the first or second touch. If four touches are made, the point will be awarded to opposing team.

If the ball bounces inside the field, including the lines, point goes to the opposing team. If the ball bounces out, point goes to the opposing team.

If a player touches the net during a play, point goes to the opposing team.

If the ball touches the limit of the net and then passes into the opposing field, the play is valid.

The teams are made of 6 players each. Players will rotate every time they have a side-out (regain the ball).

In the female competition the height of the net will be of 224cms, which is the official height for women’s competition, while in the male competition the height of the net will be of 243cms.

FORBIDDEN OBJECT

It is forbidden to wear objects which may cause injury, or give an artificial advantage to the player.

Players may wear glasses or lenses at their own risk.

DEFAULT AND INCOMPLETE TEAM

If a team refuses to play after being summoned to do so, it is declared in default and forfeits the match with the result 0-2 for the match and 0-15 for each set.

A team that, without justifiable reason, does not appear on the playing court on time is declared in default with the same result as in the previous Rule.
